About This Game

Long Gone Days is an RPG that imagines the world of war that's coming for us, told from the perspective of civilians and deserters, with a focus on language barriers and their emotional struggles.

After being deployed to his first mission, Rourke leaves The Core's base for the very first time, only to discover the dark truth about the operation he's part of and the consequences of deserting an inescapable war.

  • Communication is Key: As Long Gone Days is set in the real world, you'll encounter several language barriers. Recruit interpreters in order to communicate with others.
  • Keep Morale High: Choose dialogue options wisely as they impact your party members' Morale, affecting how they perform during battles. While doing so, keep in mind every character has different personality traits and motivations.
  • Sniper Mode: Long Gone Days has two battle systems. Using Rourke's rifle, spot your enemies and take down your targets.
  • No Random Encounters: Long Gone Days features front-view turn-based battles with body-targeting system, and every battle is directly related to the plot.

waiting for that 2chapter HYPE. I just finished playing through the first chapter, and what a ride! "Long Gone Days" is a great narrative-focused RPG with a compelling storyline, a very well-crafted world, and great characters. I must admit I was a bit skeptical in the beginning; "military" narratives are not my thing. But this game proved to be an engaging experience that goes way beyond killing folks for the sake of killing folks and presented characters that are, above all, human, with their flaws, lack of knowledge, and indecisiveness.

Some people have commented that the game is short, but this is only the first chapter, I suppose. I hope there's a lot more to come. This beginning did a great job in explaining the world and what's at stake for our heroes. It succeeded my expectations and made me genuinely care about them. In addition, the art is fantastic; I like the anime style and the well-placed picture scenes.

    Pros:
    The engaging storyline, as mentioned above;
    Art and music;
    Well-done side quests;
    World building.

    Cons (as of chapter one):
    - Movement can be a bit annoying at times. Although there is a way to make Rourke move a bit faster, I'd appreciate if there was a way to run. I ended up not bothering about some side quests because it was such a drag to walk between different areas.
    - Combat can also be frustrating. I understand that this is supposed to be a real-like experience and the main characters are not exactly super heroes, but battles seemed very unbalanced at times. At some points, head shots took less than a third of an enemy's health, WHEN it hit (unfortunately less than 40% of times). You guys might still be working this out, but I'm not sure it should be this annoying.

All in all, I'm looking forward to see what's to come in "Long Gone Days" and congrats for the job done so far!

. I have been waiting for this game since the demo was released!
This game is full of potential, the art is amazing and unique, the music is awesome, the story is interesting and the characters are easily lovable!
The gameplay is kinda unbalanced (the battles are quite hard and unfair sometimes and walking can be annoyingly slow)
but overall i enjoyed ch1 and waiting for the rest of the game! ♡
Worth every dollar!. What little is here is good, but its not much. Only 1 chapter so far. This is a game I'm looking forward to when it's completed.
I've been following this game for about half a year now and finally seeing its release has made me extraordinarily happy, along with the fact that it's met the expectations I've had for it so far. I'm excited to see where it goes from its release to Early Access and I'm even more keen to see how the story and combat will evolve from here on out.. The review only applies to the first episode - it may change and don't contain references to the storyline

Despite the fact that the game is at the early access stage, it definitely delights. However, when playing at this stage, you have to be armed with a little patience.

    • The first thing that annoys is the arrangement of the buttons responsible for game and character control. Allowing simultaneous use of WASD buttons and directional arrows to move a character while combining it with the Z and X buttons is tiring. In the long run, the hand suffers from it.

Is not it better, just use the directional arrows to move. And, for example, buttons A and D to accept the choice and reject it? Hands are more comfortable to spread on the keyboard than when using the Z and X buttons.

    • FOR GOD'S SAKE why the option to exit the game to the main menu is in the settings? Before I came up with the idea to look there - I closed the game by the windows task manager. Please change this! (Or maybe I'm just stupid? :D and only I did not bump into something that seems "obvious")
    • the soundtrack of the game, despite being beautiful and fitting to the climate with longer playing, starts to be boring. It's like buzzing a wasp that you can not get rid of. Maybe it would be possible to expand it?

Despite everything, I think the game is wonderful :) ! Has a brilliantly written plot, beautiful graphic design and can hold on for a longer moment. Cap from the head for the creators and I am eagerly awaiting the next part :) !!. Spoilers???
    CHAPTER ONE REVIEW

Atmosphere: Nice immersive atmosphere with a military theme. A clean focus on one logistics, a factor or theme that is generally overlooked. You are morally and ethically challenged throughout the game and . The main criticism i might give is that the setting is somewhat underwhelming later on in the game.

Story: Two words, good story. Thats why im looking forward to the next chapter.

Music: Decent music but a bit annoying to listen later on (my opinion).

Art and design. Nice interface in combat, menu and a clean and clear font. Also characters looks nice

pace: character moves sooooooooooo slow. The texts cannot be skipped making it a pain to go back and replay or visit other choices, the combat is paced decently but there should be a setting in the sniping part where you aim with your mouse. Opening sequence at the core could have been a bit longer. Also wish to skip cutscenes or sequences.

Characters: Development of character with Aldair and Rourke, wished there were more with the other characaters.

Choices: Interesting choices and a plenty amount of choices but wish they would impact the game more. Hopefully the next chapter we get to choose on what type of tactics we use or take on a leadership role. Choices here however are underwhelming. However i commend for them being immersive however.

Combat: decent combat, the morale system actually makes the generic system feel fresh. Needs more sniping sequences im my opinion though.

Overall thoughts: Like anime and war? This game might be for you, its best if you buy it now to support the developers!

Also Branna best girl, i would die for that smile.

Now’s the perfect time to get this modern-day RPG for 20% off, while Steam Halloween Sales last.

    Happy halloween, everyone!

As always, remember you can follow us on Twitter, Tumblr[lgdays.tumblr.com] and Facebook[www.facebook.com] for more frequent updates!

    Cheers,
LGD Team. October Update (Development & Upcoming Events):

Hi everyone! I hope you have been doing well.

We’ve been working really hard on bringing the game with all its features and HD art to Unity. Also, Nikki has been working on a few surprises we hope to be able to show soon!

Besides that, we’ve been polishing the new party members that will join Rourke and Adair on their journey, and soon they will be ready to make their first official appearance! (Here are some GIFs, but since we are working on the scenes that were seen on the demo, it looks pretty similar, except it’s on a widescreen resolution: Dialogue[imgur.com] & Particles[imgur.com])

    Upcoming Events. January 2017 Update:

    Hi everyone,

First of all, happy 2017 from the Long Gone Days team!

January is an important month as it marks one year since we started our devlog (link[lgdays.tumblr.com]) and our Twitter (@lgdays). We could never have foreseen the amount of things that happened during the last 12 months, but we are working hard everyday to surpass greater milestones.

We recently appeared on IGN's "39 Games to Keep on your Radar in 2017". We also made it to the Top 100 of IndieDB's 2016 Indie of the Year Awards, and just last week we were interviewed at GameRaven, where we discussed about our influences, crowdfunding planning, our love for languages, and more (full article here[gameraven.com]).

We haven’t shown a process pic in some time, so here’s one of a pub, where you can see the original sketch, some of the assets, the color balance, etc. Remember you can see more of these in-progress GIFs here[lgdays.tumblr.com].

QUESTION: What would you like to see in our future updates?. Timelapse and a GIF!:

Hi people! We’ve been making a lot of progress on the game, so we’ll start updating the main devlog[lgdays.tumblr.com] a couple of times a month instead of just every 30 days!

This means our updates will be shorter (we’ll even share random bugs and works in progress) just so we don’t keep you guys in the dark. Our Steam updates will only gather the most important announcements for each month, though.

By the way, here’s a timelapse video of one of the maps getting built in Unity:

Development-wise, we have also been working hard on the dialogues, giving the players dialogue choices more often (in the demo, choices were almost exclusively seen during battles). This way you can shape Rourke’s personality more to your liking.

Until next time! As always, remember you can follow us on Twitter, Facebook[www.facebook.com], Tumblr[lgdays.tumblr.com] for the latest news!
. Important Announcement + Progress Report:

Last year we announced Long Gone Days would be released this coming April, but even though we have been working hard all this time to achieve that, we feel that more time is needed to reach our desired level of polish.

When we started working on Chapter 2, we thought it would be ready in just a couple of months. Because the script wasn’t nearly as long as our first chapter, we decided to work on it together with Chapter 3 (there are 4 chapters in total), so we could release both at the same time. On top of that, there were still fixes to be made to Chapter 1, and down the road, we realized that the amount of work required for this update would be even larger than we expected. Still, we made the mistake of believing we'd be able to deliver the full release in April.

At the moment, we don’t have a definitive date on the full release, because we don’t really want to make the same mistake again, but we can say with certainty that the next big story update of Long Gone Days is almost finished and will be released really soon.

We also would like to take this opportunity to share with you a lot of progress and changes that are included in this upcoming update. The first big change is that Ivan is finally usable in battle:

This chapter wouldn’t be complete without some new characters and party members:

One of the things people asked for was to include more instances to get to know your party members, which is why we added some optional scenes, alongside some more interesting side quests:

And several new places to visit, dungeons, and more:

We also took the time to improve some existing graphical assets, like some portraits (they were posted on a previous announcement here) and the title screen:

We also rebalanced the whole game, fixed several bugs that were reported on our Official Bug Report thread, amongst other changes. All in all, with this update, players will now have 4 more hours of gameplay!

We want to thank everyone for your tremendous support, we know you have all been extremely patient and it has been a long wait. Remember that you can contact us through the official Steam forums, Tumblr[lgdays.tumblr.com] and Twitter. We’re also finishing setting up an official Discord server, so stay tuned for more information!

    Cheers,
LGD Team. Long Gone Days 0.1.3 - Bug Fixes:
We've updated the game with fixes to most of the bugs and issues that have been reported from the Bug Report Thread.

Some of the fixes included with this update are:
    - Fixed typos and grammatical errors in English and Russian texts.
    - Capped the FPS to 60.
    - Add visual and sound effects to healing items used in battle.
    - Fixed the item "Sweet Cookies", which wasn't working as intended.
    - Fix collision on one of the Forest Maps that allowed the player to reach unintented locations.

We're still working on adding an option to remap the game controls, and also adding controller support.

We want to thank everyone who's played the game so far and has taken the time to report all of these issues!

    Cheers,
LGD Team.. Simplified Chinese Demo Released!:

Good news! The Simplified Chinese version of the demo has been released, thanks to Indienova Project Gutenberg[www.indienova.com]'s team:

Changing the language of the game. One Year Ago Today~:

One year ago today, the demo of Long Gone Days was released!

So many things have happened since the release, and it’s been an incredible process. To this date, the demo has been downloaded over 100,000 times, and hundreds of Let’s Plays have been uploaded to YouTube.

Not only that, but we appeared on some big news sites we never thought we would be on, like IGN, Siliconera, Gamasutra, Kill Screen, etc. Furthermore, we had the opportunity to show the demo in different parts around the world, and visit cool events, like Day of the Devs in San Francisco, and Tokyo Game Show.

None of this would have been possible without all the support you guys have given to us. Your feedback, your comments, your beautiful fanworks, all of it has helped us tremendously and we’ll keep working as hard as ever!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
